DESCRIPTION: Time lock - Consolidated Time Lock Co., "Single Lock Chronometer" time lock with E. Howard & Co, Boston mvt, heavy nickel-plated brass case with locking front lid (locking key is not present), unmarked display glass, white enamel 46-hour dial, KW (key not included with this lot), gilt mvt with nickel balance cock and escapement cock, mvt s#3787, case s#449. Comes as pictured with a Joseph L. Hall "Premier" model vault lock. From the collection of John Erroll, co-author of American Genius: Nineteenth-Century Bank Locks and Time Locks. A copy of the book will be included with this lot. Weight of lot is approximately 19 lbs.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall; flawless dial; case shows light wear, some scratches to front lid, some dings and finish loss to front at upper-left adjacent display glass, some lesser bits of finish loss elsewhere, good display glasses, front lid currently unlocked and key is missing so lock function is unknown. Joseph L. Hall lock in excellent cosmetic condition, showing light wear, short scratch to signature plate to area left of Mr. Hall's neck, locking function untested.
